- Version 1.6.2 (April 17,2005)
- isKonqueror property. The isKonqueror property now is more secure so problems with the website are solved.
- Version 1.6.1
- Installer updated. The installation has been updated to include a missing file. The external script file was mistakenly not included in the v1.6.0 release, but this has now been fixed. You only need to upgrade to this release if you wish to configure RichDatePicker to use an external script file.
- Version 1.6.0
- In-page rendering. RichDatePicker v1.6 fully supports in-page rendering (see DisplayType). The date and time pickers can both be shown directly in the page, avoiding the need to use a pop-up where space concerns are paramount.
- Week selection. RichDatePicker v1.6 fully supports week selection. By setting the DisplayType property to StartOfWeek, RichDatePicker v1.6 can be set to request the user selects a specific week. This is in addition to the existing functionality that allows for selection by day, anniversary, month, quarter year, or half year.
- External client-script file. RichDatePicker v1.6 provides the ability to use an external JavaScript file. The primary benefit is that the client-side script in the file is cached in the user’s web browser, and so subsequent page loads are much faster as the page itself contains virtually no script. To use this feature, UseExternalResource must be set to True (if necessary the script can be placed in a specific location using ExternalResourcePath).
- Low script option. RichDatePicker v1.6 supports a new mode (see MinimizeScript) where when the control is first loaded, minimal script is rendered. When the date selector button or image icon is clicked, the page posts back, and at that point loads the date picker code and displays the picker. This mode is designed for scenarios where minimum page weight is important, and auto-postbacks are acceptable. It is an alternative method to reduce page weight, alongside the external script option.
- Strengthened browser support. RichDatePicker v1.6 includes even more improvements to its browser support. In particular, Safari and Konqueror support is strengthened, and the full pop-up interface now functions fully in Internet Explorer 5.0.
- Icon image styling. With RichDatePicker v1.6, the CSS styling applied using the ButtonStyle property is now applied to the button when an image button is used, making it possible to customize the styling of the image button used to open the pop-up date picker.
- Issues Fixed
- Time picker issue. The time picker failed to function correctly within a DataGrid. This issue has been resolved. (ref201)
- Time picker validation issue. Selecting a time with the time picker no longer causes the required field validator to fire for date selection.
- Lost date issue. When ControlDisplay="Button" and TimePickerEnabled="True" the selected date could be lost. This issue has been resolved.
- Spacing issues. The cell spacing and cell padding of the main RichDatePicker has now been set to 0, making it easier to align the picker with other page elements. (ref171)
- RequiredFieldValidator issue. When the date in the picker was set using the SelectedDate property, a RequiredFieldValidator would fire erroneously even though a date had been selected. This issue has been resolved. (ref163)
- Bad date issue. If Nullable=true and AllowArbitraryText=true and DisableTextboxEntry=false the text field incorrectly showed 01/01/01. This issue has been resolved. (ref141)
- Downlevel validation issue. In some cases the downlevel rendering of the picker (drop-down lists) failed to work alongside the ASP.NET validators. This issue has been resolved. (ref15).
- Bad date issue. If Nullable = true, ShowGoToToday = true, ShowClearDate = true, DisableTextboxEntry = false, ControlDisplay = DisplayType.TextBoxImage and PadSingleDigits = true, the date would be erroneously shown at 01/01/01. This issue has been resolved. (ref153)
- Change event issue. The DateChanged event fired for all RichDatePicker controls in the page when the value of one picker changed. This behaviour has been resolved, so when a picker’s value changes, only the change event for that picker fires. (ref192)
- Date value lost. Under some circumstances when the ControlDisplay is set to use an image, the date value was not correctly maintained in the ViewState. This issue has been resolved. (ref194)
- Validation issue. Under some circumstances a RichDatePicker could cause a validator to fire unnecessarily. This issue has been resolved. (ref143)
- Validation issue. Under some circumstances a RichDatePicker could cause a validator to fire twice. This issue has been resolved. (ref147)
- Layout issue. Multiple RichDataPickers render on one line. (ref140)
- Validation issue. ValidDateEntered returns false when an invalid date has been entered, when it should return true. This issue has been resolved. (ref142)
- ClientTarget issue. This issue prevented functioning with a third-party server component. This issue has been addressed.
- Selected date issue. Under some circumstances when the DateFormatting property was set, the currently selected date wasn’t correctly highlighted in the picker. This issue has been resolved. (ref185)
- Version 1.5.0
- Time selection. RichDatePicker v1.5 offers a complete time-selection interface so the end-user can specify not just a date, but also a time within that date, making RichDatePicker™ v1.5 ideal for calendaring and timetabling applications.
- Financial periods. RichDatePicker™ v1.5 fully supports financial periods and offers an intuitive interface to allow end-user selection in financial and accounting applications: Quarters : Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4, Half-years: H1 and H2.
- 'Day & Month' selection. End-users can use RichDatePicker™ v1.5 to select an anniversary (a date with no Year) for example '4 Nov', thereby making it ideal for calendaring, and personal data applications where the specific year is not necessary. The interface presented is simpler, and removes both the year selection, and also the weekday labels.
- 'Month & Year' selection. End-users can use RichDatePicker™ v1.5 to select an 'expiry' style date in e-commerce applications comprising just a month and year, for example 'Nov 72'. In this mode of operation, the calendar reduces the interface to display only the essentials, the month and the year - and all by setting a single property on the component.
- Multiple date selection. RichDatePicker™ v1.5 offers multiple date selection, so the picker can be configured to allow the end-user to specify multiple dates. This functionality also extends to cover multiple date & time selection. Multiple date selection removes the need for developers to create complex user interfaces to acquire multiple dates from end-users.
- Label property. RichDatePicker™ v1.5 provides the ability to specify what label appears in the RichDatePicker™ prior to a date being selected, for example 'Please select a date'. This ensures the interface is clear and intuitive.
- Date-specific labels.RichDatePicker™ v1.5 can highlight any date with specific text, for example marking special days, events, or holidays to assist the end-user in selecting an appropriate date. Support is included for recurring date labels, and customized styling of each date. These labels mean the end-user has extensive information available before selecting dates and will therefore be more likely to enter valid data.
- 'Read Only' and Disabled modes. RichDatePicker™ v1.5 provides the ability to set the picker into a mode whereby it displays a selected date, but does not allow that date to be changed. This is in keeping with other form controls with an Enabled property, and provides consistent information when displaying and entering dates.
- Improved presentation. RichDatePicker™ v1.5 now appears on top of in-page Java applets and Macromedia Flash® animations (Internet Explorer only), renders more compactly in Netscape 6.x and above, and includes improved cross-browser support with three-level browser sensing and rendering.
- Date display formats. With RichDatePicker™ v1.5 it is now possible to specify exactly how the date itself should be displayed after selection, including the common Western format like 'January 1 2004'. Using this feature you can completely customize the date display for your end users.
- Extended localization. When RichDatePicker™ is shown in an older web browser it gracefully degrades to display the date as a series of drop-down menus to provide fully functional date picker support. With the new RichDatePicker™ v1.5 release, the order of these menus now matches the locale culture of the RichDatePicker™ configuration for up-level rendering, providing an end-to-end globalized date picker. - ASP.NET SmartNavigation. RichDatePicker™ v1.5 functions correctly with Microsoft® ASP.NET’s in-built SmartNavigation feature so pages containing a RichDatePicker™ will re-open in the same place after a post-back.
